Hello, hello! Thanks so much for stopping by to find out a little about me and what I do. My name is Jarrod Conroy. I’m a business owner, a self-confessed surf fanatic, and my passion lies in regenerative living, renewable energy (plus a few other things we’ll discuss below).
Growing up in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia I was that kid who didn’t enjoy school and decided to leave and go into a trade at the end of year 11. People didn’t think I’d amount to much at all, and I was absolutely fine with that. I knew what I was passionate about and I knew that I was going to work hard to end up where I wanted to be. 15 years later, here I am.
At the age of 21 I founded my first business, Roycon, now known as Prana Energy. My second business, Bunjil Energy followed when I was 28. Then came VoltFarmer, co-founded when I was 30. All these businesses focus on renewable energy options and regenerative agriculture.
Now, when you’re trying to juggle 3 businesses, on top of having a social life, on top of life chores and everything else under the sun, things are bound to get a little stressful. Ok, “little” might be an understatement. I found myself dealing with chronic digestive issues, constant headaches and horrible sleep patterns which left me physically and emotionally burnt out. For someone who is all about regenerative models, the type of lifestyle I was living was the polar opposite.
I found myself at a point where I didn’t know how I was going to carry on, so I decided something needed to change, or I was going to stay miserable and sick and tired for the rest of my life. Enter biohacking! By chance one day I heard about this thing called Biohacking and how to best optimise the human body with modern day science, technology, combined with ancestral knowledge. When I delved into further research, listening to podcasts and reading up on this global phenomenon, I knew that this would be the thing to help me out of my slump.
Biohacking is the term given to techniques that help to improve the body at a cellular level. You know what they say, “the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell”. Biohacking focuses on the mitochondria, physically hacking into your biology to change the way your body reacts to a multitude of triggers. It has been proven to help control depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia and a range of other mentally and physically debilitating conditions. It certainly helped me. Since practicing the biohacking lifestyle I’m now happy, healthy, full of energy and ready to take on the world!
I feel that it’s important to share the good things in your life with the people around you, so I figured, “What’s one more business?” and founded Biohacking Australia. This is my way of spreading the message that YOU CAN be healthier, YOU CAN be better and YOU CAN achieve anything you set your mind to – you just need to be equipped with the right tools to do so.
At Biohacking Australia we hold monthly themed meetups for the general community. These meetups are open to anyone and everyone. Regardless of whether you’re already a biohacking extraordinaire, or you just want to find out a little more about what this type of lifestyle offers, you can follow the link to check out the who, what, why, where and how of these events on our website: https://www.meetup.com/en-AU/Melbourne-Health-Optmisation-Biohacking-Social-Circle/
I’m also in the process of working with biohacking professionals in the UK and USA to bring a large-scale convention here next year, so stay tuned!
Now, one of the most rewarding and important things I’ve been working on recently is contributing to improving local Aboriginal communities. As a society, it is imperative that we do whatever we can to assist in these areas.
Bringing elders back together and connecting them with integrated medical facilities is just a small part of what we do. Seeing these communities utilising health optimisation and other forms of alternative medicine to truly change their lives is an overwhelming process to witness. We need to keep creating events to shift the dynamic, to force change where change is sorely needed.
Thanks for sticking with me. If you’d like to find out more about biohacking & health optimisation, the events we hold or the work we do with the communities mentioned above, feel free to contact me directly via the details on my site: https://www.meetup.com/en-AU/Melbourne-Health-Optmisation-Biohacking-Social-Circle/
